Belfast 2 Sports Plus - Leaders

Sports Plus is a week of specialist sports coaching and team competitions for young people who are serious about sport and play regularly in a club or team. It's the perfect way for young people to improve in their sport, while exploring more about the Christian faith and what it means to be a Christian sports player.

Each summer we need over 450 leaders to make Sports Plus happen! Roles include Team Leaders, Coaches, Support Staff, Tech Team and Medical Team.

All Sports Plus leaders must agree with the Christians in Sport Statement of Faith and Leadership Practice document (click here).

Sports Plus leaders must first and foremost have a passion to follow Jesus and are willing to serve God, the gospel, the young people and each other. There are many different roles in which you could serve at Sports Plus:

Team Leader: Each team will be assigned two Team Leaders. Team Leaders will be responsible for a small group of young people, encouraging them in their sport and understanding of Christ. The Team Leader role includes the delivery of a daily Team Meeting Bible study.

Coach: At Sports Plus we aim to provide excellent coaching delivered by Christian coaches. Coaches will be expected to take two coaching sessions each day and our desire is for all coaches to be NGB qualified and/or have extensive experience.

Support Staff: Support Staff provide specialist support in key areas and help make Sports Plus run smoothly. Support Staff roles are wide ranging and include the following:

1. Admin Team
2. General Support Staff
3. Tech Team
4. Childcare Team

Medical Team: As a member of the Medical Team you are responsible for the assessment and triage of injuries and illness of young people throughout the week.

Sports Plus costs £180 for leaders and a reduced rate of £100 is also available for those who wish to access the Bursary Fund. There is no criteria for accessing the reduced rate - simply select the rate you wish to pay above then scroll to the bottom of the page to begin your application.

You can either make the full or deposit payment when completing the application form or select to make payment at a later date.

The application form will ask for general contact details, skills/experience, references and health information. The reference information required is outlined below:

References: you must provide contact details of two referees who can verify your application and suitability for leading at Sports Plus. One must be someone who knows you in a church setting (e.g minister/small group leader) and if you are student this must be someone from your student church.

Please note referees cannot be related to you or a Christians in Sport staff member/intern.

Once we hear back from your referees we will be in touch with details of the next steps in the application process.

All applications will be subject to satisfactory references and enhanced level criminal record checks, which a check of the Children's Barred List.
